“Reflections from the Abyss” book cover design
‘I am a writer, so admittedly being someone who could not draw a circle without instructions, a protractor and a six year old child for assistance, I was amazed at what Armen created from the synopsis of my novel. From his first conception of the cover art to its final representation is nothing short of amazing. And seeing the stages of the art makes it more so. He has captured the essence of the duality of the antagonist and protagonist, masquerading as normal everyday individuals. The figure in the eye he mentions stems from a quote by Roy H. Williams: ‘You see a person when you look in the mirror that no one sees but you. Other people see a person when they look at you, but you’re not that person either.’ Taken in full, the masks we wear not only conceal who we are from the outside world, but sometimes from ourselves. It is Armen’s talent that conveys that message to the reader before the first page is turned.” —Bertram Gibbs
